Rabies Vaccination Clinic Protocols During COVID-19
Bloomingdale Animal Control will be hosting several rabies vaccination clinics and taking measures to provide limited risk to pet owners, volunteers, and staff.
All staff, volunteers, and pet owners shall wear face masks and ensure that social distancing (a minimum of 6 feet) is maintained except for the brief direct exchange of the pet between the owner or animal handler and technician/veterinarian.
Masks are mandatory for everyone while waiting online.
Dogs should be restrained with a non-retractable leash to allow a quick and easy transfer to the veterinarian or technician for vaccination. Ideally, small dog owners hold their dog for vaccination.
Cats (one cat per container) must be in suitable carriers or containers to prevent escape and passed to the technician.
Hand washing stations or hand sanitizers shall be available and used frequently.
Frequently touched surfaces shall be cleaned regularly and disinfected to prevent disease transmission.
Rabies vaccination certificates will be filled out by staff/volunteers.
Social distancing (a minimum of 6 feet) to be maintained.
